After configuring email accounts on your Symbian phone, you can access your email accounts through your phone. You can easily configure your email accounts from various leading email service providers such as Gmail, Yahoo and Windows Live. After setting up the email accounts on your phone, you can launch the in-built browser and access your inbox. You can even make use of third party applications such as Profmail application to access your inbox.
Here is how you can configure mailbox on your Symbian phone:
- You need to go to Messages> Options> Settings> and > Email.
- Next, you need to click on Options and then create a New Mailbox. You can then choose IMAP/POP3 and proceed further to setup your account.
- You are now required to enter your email address and then click on Next.
- Enter the Incoming Mail server and Outgoing Mail server information.
- Choose the default access point and then give a name to the mailbox.
- After you have put the above settings, you can then select the newly created mailbox and click on Options> Edit> Connection Settings.
Here is an example on how to setup your Gmail account:
GMAIL POP3 SETTINGS:
In Incoming Mail,
User Name: username
Password: password
Incoming Mail server: pop.gmail.com
Mailbox Type: POP3
Security: SSL / TLS
Port: 995
In Outgoing Mail,
Email Address: [email protected]
User Name: username
Password: password
Outgoing Mail server: smtp.gmail.com
Security: Start TLS
Port: 465
GMAIL IMAP4 SETTINGS:
In Incoming Mail,
User Name: username
Password: password
Incoming Mail server: imap.gmail.com
Mailbox Type: IMAP4
Security: SSL / TLS
Port: 993
In Outgoing Mail,
Email Address: [email protected]
User Name: username
Password: password
Outgoing Mail server: smtp.gmail.com
Security: Start TLS
Port: 465
If you enter the above mentioned settings, you will be able to configure your Gmail account on your Symbian phone. Please keep in mind that you need to enable POP/IMAP 4 on your email account and then only you will be able to access you email account on your phone. Another way to setup your email account is to make use of the Nokia Settings Wizard. In case, your phone does not have the Settings Wizard, you will have to manually enter the settings as mentioned above. In order to access and view your mails, you can go to Messaging> then select Mailbox> then click on Retrieve Email.
