Since long, Acer has been manufacturing Windows phones. However, time has come to unleash Acer’s first venture with Android. Acer Liquid A1 is the first Android-based smart phone from Acer. Acer Liquid A1 has a powerful 768Mhz Snapdragron process that plenty of features and runs on OS version 1.6.
Acer Liquid A1 looks very attractive and its size is very similar to that of iPhone 3Gs. Both the upper and lower edges of the phone is rounded to give it a cute look. The plastic body of the phone gives it a very cheap look, however it is scratch resistant. To make sure that the phone does not lose its shine, you will have to clean it several times.
The search, menu, back and options buttons that are present on the front side of the phone are touch-sensitive. The phone has a 3.5mm audio jack and miniUSB for charging and connecting the phone to the computer. The volume controller and camera button is located on the right and the power button is located on the left side of the phone. The capactive touchscreen display screen is of 3.5 inches and has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
With all the latest Android-based phones running Android 2.0, the Acer Liquid A1 seems to running at the back of the pack. Social networking features such as YouTube, Facebook, Flicker, Picasa and Twitter are integrated in the contacts book. There are a few applications that come preloaded on the phone such as Documents (to read MS Office files), RoadSync Calendar, Mail and Snipets (for listening to online music and checking the details of the artists).
The built-in GPS can be accessed through Google Maps and functions very well. The Dolphin web browser is like the one that can be found on any Android-based phone. It does not support multi-touch. The 5 megapixel camera comes without flash but has auto focus feature which takes photos with not so great clarity. The videos can be recorded at 20fps, the captured videos play very smoothly.
The boxed headphones are of average quality and you will have to invest on a pair of new headphones to enjoy music on Acer Liquid A1. As far performance is concerned, Acer’s snapdragon processor ensures smooth performance. It comes with 256MB RAM. The Li-Ion, 1350 mAh battery gives 4 hours of talk time and 400 hours of stand-by time. Some of the other features of the phone include: stereo FM Radio, 3G (7.2Mbps HSDPA and 2.0Mbps HSUPA), stereo Bluetooth and WiFi.
