BlackBerry Bold Review

blackberry bold BlackBerry Bold ReviewBlackBerry Bold has been a breakthrough product offering from BlackBerry being the first of its models to feature the 3G HSDPA. It has also been dubbed as the ‘faster’ cousin of all the other models in the BlackBerry family and much of this is due to the 624 MHz CPU processing that it offers. As a result, it combines faster operations along with having a tough built and the presence of some innovative features, making it the best-packaged smartphone on offer.

First Look: the phone has been given a stylish appearance but in a very subtle manner, something that most BlackBerrys promise but it is the smartest one among other models, having very well-defined outlines with a splendid aluminum lining and a leather-covered backside that seem to complement each other. The keyboard defines the approach that has been used to design this phone – big, simple and very functional. The keypads appear literally sculpted with the absence of any unwanted edginess or spacing between them. The display is bound to make an impression featuring a widescreen that has 480 x 320 pixels to offer, delivering unmatched text/image clarity and definition. The convenience factor has been augmented with the Quick Launcher that will make the on-screen launcher pop-up that this can be used for either playing the media player or for sending/typing messages along with the option of hopping over to the Home Screen or the Web Browser. Further, the Launcher remains functional across all kinds of phone applications and thus choosing and conducting another task, simultaneously becomes easier.

Delving further into other features on offer: BlackBerry Bold is among the rare market offerings in this segment that combine WiFi with GPS and this feature alone gives it a unique advantage. However, in both the options, the call quality is not compromised and the volume level for GSM connectivity is particularly appreciable. The standard BlackBerry feature of ‘push’ to email is offered but the mailing capacity has been extended and now ten email accounts can be simultaneously maintained. E-mailed attachments are now more convenient to download and view with the Data Viz Documents that is an indigenous BlackBerry technology. The camera offers just 2 Megapixels and this is something that could be improved but given the reasonable pricing, no real grudges can be held. The image capturing in low-lit conditions has been made easier with the LED flash settings that are very practical to operate. The installed ROM is an impressive 128 MB along with 1 GB of installed flash memory.

Conclusion: as the name suggests, the BlackBerry Bold tries to make things simple for the users, presenting everything in a slightly bigger, yet attractive manner and is loaded with some very useful features. It is not meant for the minimalists, but everyone else is sure to be impressed by its designing and the way in which every practical smartphone feature has neatly been packed-in.
