It is believed that the new feature rich phone – HTC Amaze 4G is HTC’s answer to Samsung Galaxy S II. The specs of both the phones are quite similar. The phone measures 130 x 65.6 x 11.8 mm and weighs 172.9g. The phone is slightly heavy as compared to other phones in this genre.
The very first look at the HTC Amaze 4G will make you feel that it is an HTC device. The build of the phone is similar to the HTC Sensation and Desire. The 4.3 inch S-LCD display is the first thing that will captivate you. It has got display resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. You can find the usual buttons around the phone. However, a new addition is the inclusion of a dedicated camcorder button besides the dedicated camera button.
HTC Amaze 4G is powered with 1.5 GHz dual core processor. It has also got the trademark HTC Sense 3.0 UI over the Android. Like other smartphones of the present times, even this runs on Android v2.3 Gingerbread. HTC brings to you two cool functions on this phone namely; trace writing (instead of Swype) and screenshot functionality (can be accessed by pressing Power and Home). The HTC Amaze has got 16GB of internal storage and 1GB RAM. The external memory can detect up to 32GB. There are plenty of apps on the phone such Adobe Reader, Polaris Office, Highlight, Lookout Security and so on.
The HTC Amaze 4G has got an 8 megapixel autofocus camera and when you want to click a photo, you can simply tap on the camera button and the camera app launches without any lag. The photos appeared very clear and blurriness was observed after focal point. The dual LED flash is very impressive and lights up the dim environment well but the images did not have much clarity. Even you can record 1080p videos at 30fps, the quality is muddy and shaky.
HTC has got a good stock music player on HTC Amaze 4G. The sound output is quite good and you love listening to songs and radio on this phone. The video player can play a wide range of video formats including Xvid and DivX. One thing we disliked about HTC’s move is the exclusion of headphones from the retail package.
The internet can be browsed at high speed of 4G with up to 42Mbps HSDPA and nearly 600Kbps HSUPA. You can also browse through WLAN. The browser is simple yet quite user-friendly and accepts the gestures smoothly. The 1370mAh Li-Ion battery gives a talk time of nearly 6 hours and over 250 hours of standby time.
