ksp2 300x219 HTC Explorer ReviewHTC Explorer is yet another petite Android phone from HTC after HTC Aria. If you are someone who prefers compact sized phone then HTC Explorer will surely impress you. It measures 102.8 x 57.2 x 12.9 mm and weighs 108g. The phone is available in various colors such as Active Black, Active Navy, Metallic Black and Metallic Navy

The retail package of HTC Explorer only contains a charger and microUSB cable and there is no headset provided. The exterior of the phone is made up of rubbery plastic at its back. The looks of the phone is similar to that HTC Sensation. The phone is available in different colors. The WVGA display of the phone measures 3.2 inches has display resolution 320 x 480 pixels. View angles are good and however there is not much depth in color.

Below the display of the HTC Explorer, you can find four capacitive buttons such as Home, Menu, Back and Search. On the left side of the phone, there is a microUSB port that doubles up for charging the phone. On the right, there is a volume controller. At the top, you can find a 3.5mm audio jack and power/display lock button. At the rear, there is a 3.2MP camera with loudspeaker grill.

The operating system present on the phone is Android v2.3 which is overlaid by HTC Sense v3.5 UI. The internal memory of the phone is 90MB and there is 512MB RAM. There is no external storage on the phone.

The 3 megapixel fixed-focus camera has no flash to go with it. So, when there is natural lightning, the photos appear good. However, when there is less light, the camera is useless. Videos can be recorded in MP4 format at VGA resolution at 19fps. The video player on the phone allows you to videos in fullscreen mode. There is SRS and 5.1 virtualization enhancement options. It can play DivX and XviD files without any glitches. You cannot play HD videos on this phone. The music player is decent and the HTC Explorer manages to deliver impressive sound output. The sound is much better when you connect a headphone.

The HTC Explorer lets you use fast paced internet through WLAN with 14.4Mbps HSDPA and 5.76Mbps HSUPA. Connectivity options include Bluetooth v3.0 and GPS. You get to use fullscreen browser that supports double tap zooming and tabbed browsing. It is fully Flash enabled. The 1230mAh battery of the HTC Explorer produces a standby time of 445 hours on 3G and talk time of over 7 hours and 30 minutes on 3G.
