HTC Google Nexus One is the first smartphone from Google. Even though the phone has been manufactured by HTC, there is no mentioning about it on the package. The nexus one phone measures 119mm in height and 59.8mm in width and weighs 130 grams with battery. The phone has a very beautiful WVGA AMOLED touch screen display that measures 3.7 inches diagonally. It has a display resolution of 800 x 480 pixels with 100,000:1 typical contrast ratio. Undoubtedly, it has the best display screen we have ever seen in a smart phone.
Below the display screen, you can find the touch-sensitive navigation keys followed by a trackball. On the left hand side of the phone, you will find the volume rocker. On the top, you will find the power button. At the bottom, you will find the microUSB charging/data port together with some dock connectors. At the rear, you can find the 5 megapixel autofocus camera with a single LED flash and a small cutout for speaker.
One of the most powerful features of the HTC Google Nexus One phone is the operating system – Android v2.1. The interface of this Android phone is truly world class. The speech to text feature of the phone allows the user to dictate emails, text messages, voice command, etc to the phone. The onscreen QWERTY keyboard allows you to type texts easily. The phone comes with various Google applications such as Google Search, Maps, YouTube, Google Talk and Picasa.
The internal memory of the phone is 512MB RAM and comes with 4GB external memory. The phone can read up to 32GB microSD card. The phone is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1Ghz processor and is complimented well by the 512MB Flash. The HTC Google Nexus One can play various audio file formats such as MP3, WAV and eAAC+. The video file formats that can be played on the phone include MP4, H.263 and H.264. You can record videos at 720 x 480 resolutions at 20fps.
The web browser present on the phone is very fast and loads web pages faster over Wi-Fi. Here are specs on some of the other features of the phone: 3G – HSDPA at 7.2Mbps and HSUPA at 2 Mbps, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, microUSB v2.0, 3.5mm audio jack, and assisted GPS. The phone comes with a standard Li-ion 1400 mAh battery with 7 hours of talk time on 3G and 250 hours of standby time on 3G.
