HTC Tattoo Android 2 300x255 HTC Tattoo ReviewHTC Tattoo is an effort from HTC to bring affordable Android phone to the market. From this you can understand, the HTC Tattoo is not a phone that is fully loaded with features. It is compact smartphone and since its body is made up of slithery plastic, it does not allow you to hold phone firmly. The phone weighs 113g and measures 106 x 55.2 x 14mm.  It has got resistive TFT touch screen display that measures 2.8 inches and supports 65k colors and has got a display resolution of 240 x 320 pixels.

Above the display, you can find the secondary camera for making video calls and a status indicator LED. The buttons below the display are Home and Menu at the left and Back and Search at the right and dedicated call keys with a round D-pad in the middle. On the left side of the phone, you can the volume controller and on the right side there no buttons. At the top side, you can find the 3.5mm audio jack and the lanyard eyelet. At the bottom, you can find the miniUSB port that can be used for connecting data cable and the charger. At the rear, there is a 3.15 megapixel camera along with the loudspeaker. The microSD slot can be accessed by opening the back cover.

The internal memory of the phone is 256MB and can detect up to 8GB of memory. The Sense UI from HTC lets you personalize the phones by changing scenes. For instance, the Work scene gives access to stocks widget and the Social scene gives access to social networking widgets. One of the major drawbacks of the phone is that you will not find many applications for the HTC Tattoo on the Android Market because most of the apps present on Android Market is meant for other Android phones that have 320 x 480 and above display resolutions.

The 3.15 megapixel camera lacks flash and autofocus features and the images appeared realistic but lacked clarity. You can capture videos at 352 x 288 resolution. The HTC Tattoo can play videos in MP4, H.263, H.264 and WMV format. However, the phone does not play DivX and Xvido formats. Sound quality is not the best but is passable. The internet explorer is good but lacks Flash support. You can surf the web through Wi-Fi and 3G speeds of 7.2Mbps HSDPA. The other feature of the phone includes v2.0 Bluetooth,  stereo FM radio with RDS, assisted GPS and digital compass. The standard 1100 Li-Ion mAh battery gives a standby time of over 500 hours on 3G and 5 hours and 40 minutes of talk time on 3G.
