AT&T brings to you the first touch screen prepaid cell phone – LG Prime. The phone looks very similar to the LG Vu Plus. It measures 108 x 53 x 13 mm and weighs only 89g. It is a very lightweight phone and the body of the phone is made up of plastic. The resistive display of the phone measures 3 inches and has a display resolution of 400 x 240 pixels and is capable of displaying 262k colors. The display becomes unusable when you view it under direct sunlight.
Below the display of LG Prime, you can find three physical buttons – Send, Clear/Back and Power/End buttons. On the left side of the phone, you can find the microSD slot and the volume controller. On the right side of the phone, you can find the display lock key, charger slot and the camera launcher. At the top you will find the 3.5mm audio jack. As usual, the camera is located at the rear.
The home screen of the LG Prime is also similar to the one found on LG Prime. The home screen can be personalized by adding up to 8 widgets. Apart from the widgets, there are four shortcuts present on the screen – voice command, speakerphone, address book and call register. The onscreen QWERTY keyboard of the phone is easy to use and can be used in landscape mode (full QWERTY) portrait mode (alphanumeric keypad). There are plenty of miscellaneous apps present on the phone such as clock, calendar, notepad, calculator, MMS, unit converter, etc. The Social Net application from AT&T can be used for accessing Facebook and Twitter.
The Mobile Music present on the LG Prime GS390 allows you to download your favorite music tracks from eMusic and Napster. The music player has got the usual features which includes equalizer presets and a visualizer. The 2 megapixel camera has got lot of features and takes decent pictures. However, the lack of flash makes it impossible to snap clear images in dim lighting conditions.
The internal memory of the phone is 48MB and the external memory can be expanded up to 16GB. Data transfer can be done through Bluetooth and USB. The full HTML internet browser disappointed us as we had a tough time scrolling and navigating through the web pages. There is no 3G or WLAN feature on this phone. The Li-Ion900 mAh battery of LG Prime GS390 gives a talk time of 4 hours and stand-by time of 384 hours.
