Motorola Milestone also known as Motorola Droid in US is the second from Motorola to have an Android OS. Verizon’s Motorola Droid is also the first phone ever to have Android 2.0 Éclair OS. Let us find out how the phone fares with regards to rigorous advertising campaign.
The Motorola Droid is a bulky phone as it weighs 170.6g and measures 4.6in x 2.4in x 6in in size. The overall structure of the phone is very sturdy and durable. The display screen of the phone is by far the most excellent one available as compared to any of the Android phone. The capacitive touchscreen display supports a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and displays 16 million colors. The light sensor makes sure the brightness of the display is adjusted in such a way that your eyes are not strained.
Below the display screen, you can find the typical Android touch-sensitive buttons: Back, Menu, Home and Search. For writing texts, you can make use of the on-screen QWERTY keyboard or even make use of the very thin landscape-sliding QWERTY keyboard which can be accessed by sliding the screen. A separate D-pad is placed next to the keyboard for easy navigation. On the left side of the phone is microUSB port whereas the camera button and volume controller is located at the right side. Like many smartphones, even the Droid has a 3.5mm headset jack at the top.

Flip the phone on to its back and you will see the 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash. The clarity of the images taken via camera is simply brilliant. You can record DVD quality videos at 24fps. The video and audio clarity of the phone is very pleasing. Opening the back cover will reveal the battery and underneath the battery is the microSD card slot. The new Android 2.0 allows you to customize your phone with various widgets, shortcuts, folders and homescreens. The Google Search can be accessed by pressing touch-sensitive search button which will prompt you to say the search query rather than typing it. The smart phonebook fetches contact details from different sources like Gmail, Facebook, etc.
The extensive organizer apps include alarm, world clock, and calendar, notes, and to-do and voice recorder. The email and instant messaging client are Gmail and Google Talk. Like the HTC Hero (the Android phone from HTC), the browser is Flash enabled and allows you to zoom easily to any area of the webpage.
The internal memory of the phone is 256MB. The phone comes with an 8GB microSD card. The external memory supports 32GB memory. The battery life of Motorola Droid is nearly 7 hours which is quite impressive. The other features of the phone includes 3G (HSDPA, 10.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps), Bluetooth, WLAN, secondary camera for video calling, and assisted GPS. Hats off to one of the best smartphones available in the market, Motorola Droid.
