It is marketed as a phone for social networking and has got a dedicated application called JuiceCaster which helps you in uploading images and videos to famous social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and many others.

Nokia 6790 Surge has an attractive glossy plastic body which attracts fingerprints easily. Even the phone appears to be very attracted when you view its images, the feeling will subside quickly when you hold it in your hand. The front part of the screen which consists of the display screen is thin compared to the other part of the phone, the QWERTY keyboard which is quite thick. However, the phone is not bulky as it weighs only 123.9g.

The Nokia 6790 Surge has a TFT display screen which displays 16 million colors and has a display resolution of 320 x 240 pixels with a screen size of 2.4 inches. Below the display screen, you will see a D-pad, navigational keys, soft keys and end/send keys.

At the bottom left side, you will see three buttons arranged vertically, in which the center button can be used to access the Menu whereas the other buttons can be customized to access any desired application by the user. On the left side of this phone, you can find the MicroUSB slot whereas on the top, you will find the 3.5mm audio jack with the charger port. The 2.0 megapixel camera is decked at the backside of the phone which has a self portrait mirror but lacks a flash. You can access the SIM card. On the right side, you can find the camera key and volume rocker. Removing the back cover will give you access to micro SD card slot, SIM card slot and 1500mAh battery.

The backlight lights up the keyboard well and thereby making it easy to use in the dark. The operating system of this phone is Symbian S60 3rd Edition. You can find the following application on the phone Quick Office, Adobe Reader, AT&T Navigation and applications from AT&T such as Music ID and Radio XM.

The images taken by means of 2.0 megapixel is decent and the music player has got equalizer settings and visualizations. Sound through the loudspeaker is not that impressive. This quad-band phone can be used outside the phone without any qualms.

The Flash supported web browser is good but not well implemented; hence you may face difficulty in viewing YouTube videos. It has got 128MB of internal memory and the external memory can be expanded up to 8GB. The other features of the phone include assisted GPS, stereo FM with RDS, Bluetooth and 3G – HSDPA with speed of 3.6Mbps.

  1. there are currently no USB cables available from Nokia that are compatible for the Surge…at least that’s what 2 different technicians have told me after calling customer support.
