Nokia E72 – Truly Business Class Phone

nokia e72 300x254 Nokia E72 – Truly Business Class PhoneNokia E72 is the latest E-series cell phone released by Nokia. However, it is also one of the most talked about cell phones before its release. It is goes without saying that Nokia E72 is one more addition to the business class phones from Nokia. Hence, when you unbox the phone, you will see that it includes a leather cord that can be worn around the neck,  a leather carrying case and a good quality cleaning cloth apart from the usual stuff such as charger, 4GB micro SD card, Nokia headset (nothing special here) , etc.

Available in three colors namely Zodium Black, Metal Grey and Topaz Brown, Nokia E72 weighs 128g and its dimension is very similar to Nokia E71 but has the looks of Nokia E52 and E55. It slots itself in one of the thinnest QWERTY cell phones in the business.

On the top right side above the display screen, you can see the ambient light sensor and secondary camera meant for video calling. The QVGA screen measure 2.36 inches and displays 320 x 240 pixels. You will find a dedicated voice command button present between volume increase and decrease buttons on the right hand side of the phone. Towards the left, there is standard microUSB port and slot to insert microSD memory card both provided with plastic cover. On the top, there is 3.5mm audio jack.  The back side cover of the phone is made up of stainless steel. At the back, you will also find a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash mirror. It comes without a protective cover for the lens.

The operating system loaded on the phone is Symbian OS 9.3 (series 60 v3.2).  The internal memory of the phone is 250MB and the external memory has the capacity to support up to 16GB.

The QWERTY keyboard is very user-friendly and you will get used to it very soon to type messages on it after you make use of the phone. The D-pad on the keyboard helps you to scroll horizontally, vertically and make selection with ease. Snaps taken through 5 megapixel camera are fabulous but the video recording is not quite impressive as it records videos at 15fps. The video and audio players are decent. However, the Nokia E72 produces top-notch audio quality.

As far as PIM apps are concerned, you can find calendar, PDF reader, unit converter, calculator, voice recorder, alarm, notes and you can access read and edit Microsoft 2007 documents and open Excel and PowerPoint files. The other feature of the phone includes Flash supported web browser, built-in GPS, accelerometer, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, FM Radio with RDS, document editor, 3G with HSDPA 10.2Mbps and HSUPA 2Mbps, wireless internet connectivity. There are not many cons with this phone except it does not play XVID and DIVX videos, no TV-out and no dedicated camera button.
