Hence, they have released the new Nokia N900, the latest Nokia phone that is hitting the world with the craze. What is unique about this phone is that it makes use of a new operating system called Maemo 5. The device clearly gives you an indication that it is a handheld computer that comes with functionalities of phones.

The first thing that you will notice about this beautiful phone is that it has 3.5 inches WVGA touchscreen display that is able to display 65,536 colors at resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Hence, the display is truly amazing with vibrant colors and great contrast. You can clearly view the display even under bright sunlight.

It comes with a sliding QWERTY keyboard. When you want to dial a number, you can make use of the on-screen numpad to dial rather than dialing on the QWERTY keyboard. Writing texts and emails through the keyboard is very user-friendly. You need to keep in mind that this phone does not support MMS. Above the display screen, you will find the ambient sensor that adjusts the brightness and keyboard backlighting automatically. You will also find a secondary video-calling camera and LED status indicator.

On the top of the phone, you will see one speaker near which you will also find the microUSB port. At the bottom, you will see a lock slider and another speaker and3.5mm audio port. You will find a small gap where you can keep the stylus of the phone. On the left side of the phone, there are no controls provided whereas on the right, there is a volume controller, power button and camera button. At the back lies the powerful 5 megapixel camera lens that comes with dual LED flash which is nicely placed under a protective cover. The kickstand allows the phone to stand at an angle while placed on plain surface.

Underneath the back panel of the Nokia N900, you will find the microSD card slot which can be hot-swapped easily and a long lasting battery of 1320 mAh. The Maemo operating system is quite powerful and user-friendly. There are plenty of new applications on this phone that you will surely fall in love with it. The performance of the phone is quite good because it runs on the powerful 600Mhz Context A8 CPU and it also comes with 256MB RAM memory. The audio quality of the phone is quite good and the video player plays a wide range of videos. The sad part is that the powerful 5 megapixel camera does not impress much even though snaps are taken at 2576 x 1963 pixels. Videos are recorded at 24fps.

If you love surfing on web then web browsing will be a real treat for you. It makes use of the Mozilla based application for browsing. It comes with infrared connectivity that allows you to use the phone as a remote control when used with an appropriate application. It has Wi-Fi connectivity, supports USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.1 A2DP and3G (HSDPA speed is up to 10 Mbps, while HSUPA speed is up to 2Mbps).All these connectivity options makes this phone as one of the fastest ones for data transfer.

Some of the other features of the phone includes stereo FM Radio which can be accessed by using a third party application, FM transmitter, A-GPS, Skype and Google Talk VoIP integration,  TV-out, PDF document viewer, organizer applications and photo editor.
