It is candybar phone that has been brought into the market to compete against phones like Sony Ericsson Zylo and other XpressMusic phones from Nokia. This budget music phone has looks like the old 5310 XpressMusic phone. Its aluminum cover makes it much sleeker and sturdy in appearance.

The Nokia X2 has a QVGA display screen that measures 2.2 inches. The display is quite bright and you will not face much issue in viewing the display outdoors. Below the display, you can find the usual soft keys and the numeric keypad. On the left side of the phone, you can find the dedicated music buttons – play, back and forward. On the right hand side, you can find the volume controller, camera launcher, and microSD slot. On the top side, you can find the microUSB slot, 3.5mm audio jack and charger port.

The phone comes with a 2GB microSD card and the external memory can detect up to 16GB of microSD. The internal memory of the phone is 48MB only. You can perform data transfer through microUSB connection and Bluetooth. The Nokia X2 runs on s40 Symbian OS. The OS may be an outdated one but it is good enough for ones who are looking for simplicity. On the homescreen, you can see widgets like time, date info, music player/radio status, etc. The horizontal shortcut bar can be personalized for adding frequently used applications.

Nokia X2 is the only 5 megapixel camera that is available at the lowest price. The dual LED allows you to snap bright photos in low lighting conditions. However, the quality is not that good. The photos taken outdoors are rich in detail and color. You will notice that once you take a snap, the phone takes around 20-25 seconds to process the photo in the background. You can record videos at 320 x 240 resolution at 15fps.

The Nokia X2 has applications like Ovi Sync, Facebook, YouTube, Opera Mini, Flickr, and messaging application for accessing emails from Yahoo!, Windows Live and Gmail. The music player of Nokia X2 is quite good. The boxed ear-buds are quite good compared to the standard ones shipped with other handsets. The sound output through the loudspeaker is loud and impressive. The Nokia X2 lacks 3G and Wi-Fi. Hence, you can only browse through EDGE. The standard Li-Ion 860 mAh battery gives a standby time of over 620 hours and talk time of over 13 hours.
