Samsung Captivate belongs to the Samsung Galaxy S line of phones. The phone appears to be very sleek and sophisticated. The phone measures 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9mm and weighs only 118g. One of the best things about this phone is that it sports an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display which measures 4 inches. It has got a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and is capable of displaying 16m colors. The display is very bright and clear. However, you will face some difficulties in viewing it outdoors.

There are four touch sensitive buttons on the phone namely Menu, Home, Back and Search. On the top side of the phone, you can find the 3.5mm audio headset and the microUSB port. The on-screen keyboard is easy to use and can be used in portrait and landscape mode. You can also make use of handwriting recognition to easily create text messages. You can also use Swype text input mode for creating texts. The 5 megapixel autofocus camera lacks LED flash which limits the phones ability to take good quality photos in darker environments. There is no radio on this phone. The sound through the loudspeaker is quite loud and clear. Watching videos on Samsung Captivate is a treat as you can watch high resolution videos without experiencing choppiness.

The internet can be accessed by means of the default browser which has got many features like multi-touch, zoom, window management, bookmarks, Flash etc. You will able to play YouTube videos present on the pages through the YouTube client.
