Samsung Fascinate Review

Samsung Fascinate 300x227 Samsung Fascinate ReviewThe moment you see the Samsung Fascinate, you simply fall in love with this beautiful phone. It is the fourth Samsung Galaxy phone. It looks very similar to Samsung Vibrant that we reviewed last month. The Samsung Fascinate measures 125 x 64 x 10.5mm and weighs only 116g. The slim design and rounded edges truly makes it look amazing.

Like the other Galaxy phones from Samsung, even the Samsung Fascinate sports a Super AMOLED display screen that measures 4 inches. It has got a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and supports 16m colors. Below the display are the four touch-sensitive buttons for accessing Menu, Home, Back and Search. If you tour around the sides of the Samsung Fascinate, you will notice that there are hardly any buttons. The volume controller located on the left and the power/display lock button is on the right. The top houses the 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB port. Flip the phone to its back and you will find the 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash.

The Samsung Fascinate runs on Android 2.1 OS and it brings you even more customization options thanks to the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface. It allows you to add four important buttons on the screen (Phone, Contacts, Messaging and Applications) and it also lets you choose from 7 home screens. Moreover, it allows you to add host of custom widgets on the home screen. The internal memory of Samsung Fascinate is 2GB and 32GB of microSD can be used on its external memory. The phone comes with 16GB of microSD.

The Samsung Fascinate is a cool phone for social networking as it easily integrates Facebook contacts on the phonebook and it also lets you add events from your Facebook to the calendar of the phone. You can easily set up POP, IMAP and Exchange email accounts. Even though the Samsung Fascinate lacks physical keyboard, the virtual keyboard does well in providing you good error free typing. The Swype software lets you type even faster on this phone. Verizon’s IM app lets you get in touch with your buddies on Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live, Google Talk and AIM. The document viewer app lets you view and edit Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files.Samsung Fascinate 174x300 Samsung Fascinate Review

The 5 megapixel autofocus camera snaps high resolution photographs with rich details. However, the single LED flash does not illuminate the subject well because of which you won’t be able to snap good pictures in dim lighting.  You can record HD videos at 720p at 30fps. The music player looks good and allows you to share songs through Bluetooth and email. The equalizer presets helps in producing impressive sound output. You can enjoy wide range of video formats such as 3GP, MP4, XviD and DivX on the beautiful Super AMOLED display of Samsung Fascinate.

You can connect to the web through 3G (Rev A up to 3.1 Mbps) and DLNA enabled WLAN. The Flash enabled WebKit Android web browser gives you hassle free browsing experience. It renders pages quickly and has got features like double-tap and multi-touch. You can make use of VZ Navigator and Google Maps for using the assisted GPS feature of Samsung Fascinate. The phone runs on Li-Po 1500 mAh standard battery. However, Samsung hasn’t yet disclosed the talk time and standby time of the battery on its official website but we reckon that it can give a talk time of over 6 hours and up to 12 days of standby time.
