Samsung adds another smartphone to the line of Samsung Galaxy series. The new Samsung Galaxy Indulge measures 132 x 61 x 15 mm and weighs 152g. It has got a slick and shiny plastic exterior that easily attracts dust and finger marks. The Galaxy Indulge comes with a 3.5 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display. It has got a display resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The display comes with accelerometer sensor and proximity sensor.
Below the display of the Galaxy Indulge, you can find four buttons namely, menu, back, home and search. Sad thing is that these buttons are not back-lit which means you will have a tough time using these buttons in the dark. You find volume controller, display lock, power button, 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB slot and camera launcher on the sides of the phone. When you slide the display, you can access its very user-friendly QWERTY keyboard that comes with good feedback keys.
The Samsung Galaxy Indulge is powered by Android v2.2 decked up with Samsung’s very own TouchWiz user interface. You can choose from seven homescreens and add widgets on it. You can sync this phone with your accounts present on Google, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Setting email accounts on this phone is also quite easy. The external memory of the phone can detect up to 32GB of memory and comes with 2GB microSD card.
The Galaxy Indulge’s 3.2MP camera is nothing special. The autofocus is sluggish and takes a few seconds to focus on a subject. Images that were taken appeared to be of mediocre quality. Takings snaps indoors is not advisable as it lacks a flash. You can record videos at 720 x 480 pixels resolution at 30fps. On the phone, you can watch videos of all the known video formats. The music player is a basic one and there is nothing much to talk about it. The output through the loudspeaker is disappointing as it has a mono speaker.
As far as internet connectivity is concerned you can use 3G at Rev. A up to 3.1 Mbps and also through WLAN. The web browser supports Flash content but appears to load heavy pages quite slowly. The Samsung Galaxy Indulge also supports assisted GPS. Lastly, the 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery gives a stand-by time of up to 300 hours and talk time of up to 3 hours.
