samsung-omnia-2-bigThe new Samsung Omnia II i8000 is a much awaited cellphone that simply surpasses any other cellphone with similar range of features. These days, a very good cellphone can still appear ‘mediocre,’ even though it may be loaded with features, for its average visual appeal. The design and looks of Samsung Omnia II is simply irresistible; scoring both on looks and features. The phone only weighs 117 grams and the rounded edges make it all the more stunning. It ranks itself in the category of those cellphones that are out there to give competition to Apple iPhone. The size of the display screen is 3.7 inches AMOLED unit (480 x 800 pixels).

At the front side, you will find a front-facing camera and the ambient sensor located close to the speaker above the display screen. The Send and End, 3D Cube buttons are located down below the display screen. On the left, you can find the volume control whereas on the right you can find buttons like Back, task manager/ shutter combo button. At the top, you will find the Micro USB port and 3.5mm audio jack for connecting your headset.

The internal memory of the Omnia II is 256mb and comes with a memory if 8 Gb/16Gb. It can be expanded upto 32Gb.

Samsung’s TouchWiz 2.0 UI customized well to work with Microsoft operating system; you will never feel as if you are using a Windows Mobile. The homescreen is widget-friendly and allows you to use three different pages. A great importance has been given to the PIM applications such as calendar, task manager, notes and contacts on this phone.

Behind, you will see the most powerful feature of the phone – 5mp camera with dual LED flash. There is no camera lens cover; however the edges of the camera area are slightly raised to avoid contact with the surface.

One of the best features of Samsung Omnia II is that it allows you to record high DVD quality video (720 x 480) at 30fps and recording at lower resolution will allow you to record at even 120fps. Even though the device is a very powerful media player, it comes without stereo speakers. The audio output through headset is simply outstanding. The Touch Player allows you to play all the known video and audio formats.

The 3G gives 7.2mbps HSDPA and 5.78mbps HSUPA speed which allows on the internet with the best possible speed. Like other WinMo cellphones, even this one comes with Opera Mobile browser which gives user-friendly browsing experience.

Other features of Samsung Omnia II include mobile tracker application, GPS, Bluetooth, and TV-out. The Li-ion 1500 mAh battery will stay long no matter what you do on your phone. The other drawback apart from the loudspeaker is the performance. The device does become a tad slow with usage, especially if you keep a lot of its features open.
