Sprint, the numero uno cellular provider in US recently announced the release of Samsung Seek. It is an affordable phone that is available in three colors namely, pink, blue and red to suit your style. It is a compact phone and measures 4.12 x 2.08 x 0.58 inches and weighs only 109g. It appears to be one of the smallest and shortest phones available in the market.
On the left side of the phone, you can find the volume controller and microSD slot and on the right, you can find the screen lock/power button, charging port and camera launcher. On the top side of the phone, there is 3.5mm audio headset jack and lanyard port on the corner. Below the display, you can find three buttons – back, home and phone function button. The home button is present instead of the menu button as the home button gives access to four tabs – favs, main, fun, and web.
The Samsung Seek has a resistive touchscreen that measures 2.6 inches and has a display resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The display appears be quite bright but fails to display clearly under direct sunlight. The internal memory of the phone is 128MB and can read up to 32GB of microSD. When it comes to performance, the display responded well to finger gestures and even the QWERTY keyboard was found to be user-friendly though we found it a bit small.
Samsung Seek has got a 1.3 megapixel camera and lacks important features like zoom, flash and autofocus. The video recording feature is nothing special. The preinstalled social networking apps like Twitter, MySpace and Facebook can be used to get in touch with your friends. You can do multi-tasking on this phone which means you can make use of social networking sites while you surf on the web. On the Samsung Seek, you will also find the usual Sprint applications but apps like Sprint TV and Sprint Navigation is missing. The sound through the loudspeaker is not loud enough whereas the audio output through the earphone was found to be impressive.
The Samsung Seek allows you to access high speed internet through 3G but the web browser disappointed us as it took lot of time to load websites and even the font appeared to be quite small. The phone lacks Wi-Fi and GPS. You can perform data transfer through Bluetooth and microUSB. The Li-Ion, 1000 mAh battery gives a talk time of more than 5 hours and the stand-by time of 400 hours.
