Samsung Solstice II Review

samsung solstice 2 168x300 Samsung Solstice II Review Samsung Solstice II is the successor phone to the original Samsung Solstice. The phone is available on contract with AT&T. It measures 109 x 54.1 x 12 mm and weighs only 95g. The exterior of the phone is made up of plastic. As far as design is concerned, the Samsung Solstice II seems to be boring phone because it looks very similar to other mid-range Samsung phones.

The Samsung Solstice II sports a 3.35 inch resistive display screen that is capable of displaying 65k colors at 240 x 400 pixels. The display appears to be very lively when the brightness is set to the highest. You will find it very difficult to view the contents of the display under direct sunlight. Below the display, you can find three physical buttons for Send, End and Back/Clear. As you move around the sides of the phone, you will find the following buttons and ports: volume controller, Menu button, camera shutter button, display lock/unlock button and microUSB port. At the backside, there is a 2 megapixel autofocus camera.

Samsung Solstice II has got the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface which brings to you three homescreens. You can add widgets on the homescreen and thereby personalize the phone. The internal memory of the phone is 83MB and the external memory of the phone supports up to 16GB of microSD.

samsung solstice ii handset 300x280 Samsung Solstice II Review The AT&T Mobile Email app lets you setup email accounts within seconds. The Social Net app lets you stay updated on Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and RSS feeds. You can get online on various IM clients like AIM, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger. There are many third party apps on the phone such YPmobile, My-Cast Weather, AllSport GPS, City ID, MobiTV and other AT&T apps like AT&T Radio, AT&T Navigator and AT&T Maps.

The Samsung Solstice II disappoints with 2 megapixel camera. The clarity of the images is nothing exceptional. You won’t like record videos on this phone. It can record videos of 320 x 240 pixels at 15fps. The music player is simple and displays album cover, song information and on-screen controls. The equalizer setting does not help in producing impressive sound output. As expected, you can only watch low resolution (320 x 240 pixels) videos on this phone.

As far is internet is concerned, the Samsung Solstice II offers decent browsing experience. Pages do not load quickly but it does allow you to zoom and scroll quickly. As compared to other features of the phone, you will like web browsing on the phone as it lets you stay connected on the web at 3G speeds of 7.2 Mbps on HSDPA. The standard Li-Ion 1000 mAh battery gives a standby time of up 250hours and talk time of up to 5 hours.
