After the success of Samsung Propel, AT&T brings to you a very cool phone – Samsung Strive A687. It is a portrait slider phone which means the QWERTY keyboard of the phone can be accessed by sliding the display upwards. The phone looks quite smart and is very comfortable to hold. The phone measures 105.9 x 58.9 x 14.6mm in measurement and weighs 113.1g. The QVGA display of the phone measures 2.6 inches and is capable of displaying 262k colors with a display resolution of 240 x 320 pixels.
Below the display of the phone, you can find a five way d-pad and the usual soft keys. On the left side of the phone, you can find the volume controller and the camera launcher. On the right side of the phone, you can find a microUSB port that can be used for charging and data transfer. The 2 megapixel camera is located at the rear of the Samsung Strive. To access the microSD card, you will have to uncover the back panel of the phone. The QWERTY keyboard is easy to use; however you will require some practice to get used to it.
There is nothing special about the user interface of the Samsung Strive. It has got the same standard AT&T user interface but has got some new AT&T features like Address Book and Mobile Share. The performance is quite fast. You can log on to the web interface of the address book and add or edit contact information. Whatever changes you make on the web interface of the address book will reflect on your Samsung Strive A687. Mobile Share lets you share your photos and videos captured by means of your phone can be uploaded to an AT&T website, or sent through MMS or also can be uploaded on social networking sites.

The internal memory of the phone is 80MB and the external memory of the phone can detect up to 32GB of microSD. The 2 megapixel autofocus camera snaps good images if adequate lighting is available. Even the images taken in dim light was found to be acceptable. The Video Share service from AT&T allows you to share live video while you are on talking on phone. The music player is okay but since there is no headset jack available on the phone, this phone cannot be considered as a music device.
There is a mediocre HTML browser. Since there is no 3G or WLAN feature on the Samsung Strive, browsing can be only done through GPRS. The standard Li-Ion 1000mAh battery of the Samsung Strive gives a stand-by time of up to 250 hours and talk time of 3 hours.
