Sony Ericsson Satio Review – First 12 MP Cam Phone and Symbian s60 Phone from Sony Ericsson

sony ericsson satio bordeaux 4 278x300 Sony Ericsson Satio Review First 12 MP Cam Phone and Symbian s60 Phone from Sony EricssonSatio is the first 12 megapixel cell phone from Sony Ericsson. The phone has a  3.5 inch display screen and from this we can understand that Satio is not a compact cell phone. However, the phone only weighs 126g which is quite less for a phone that is fully loaded with features. Satio looks like a digital camera that comes with a touch sensitive screen.

The huge display of the phone supports 16 million colors and has a display resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. It has a resistive display screen. You will not have any issues to view the display under artificial light; however you may not see the display clearly under direct sunlight. At the bottom of the display screen, you can find the three thin buttons. Each of these buttons is meant for ‘send’, ‘main menu’ and ‘end’. On the left side of the screen, you can find the microSD card slot and a charger port. On the opposite site, you will find the camera shutter, mode switcher and buttons for accessing gallery.

Sadly, the Sony Ericsson Satio is not provided with 3.5mm audio jack. At the rear of the phone, the much hyped 12 megapixel camera is present with Xenon flash. Satio is also the first Symbian 60 phone from Sony Ericsson. It has got 5th edition version of s60, the same that can be found on Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Samsung Omnia HD i8910, etc.

The first tab is for accessing favorite contacts. The second one is for adding shortcuts of up to 8 of your desired web pages. The third one is for accessing the home screen. The fourth one is for accessing the photo gallery. The last one is for placing shortcuts of up to 8 applications. The following applications and games can be found on the phone: SMS Preview, YouTube, Facebook, Labyrinth, Sudoku, etc.

In order to write a message or email, you can make use of the onscreen QWERTY keyboard. The Flash enabled web browser that comes with the phone is of mediocre quality. We would recommend you to install another browser like Opera Mobile for rich features and fast browsing.

The 12 megapixel camera is the most fascinating feature of the phone and there are 8 presets you can choose from. Some other features of the phone include smile detection, red eye removal, geo-tagging, etc. You can capture videos at a resolution of 640 x 489 pixels at 30fps. It also has a secondary VGA camera for video calling.

Like all other Sony Ericsson phones, even the Satio is truly a great phone for playing music files. You can also listen to FM radio on this phone. The audio output through the loudspeaker is loud and clear. The phone comes with an internal memory of 128MB and 256MB RAM. The phone comes with 8GB card and it can easily detect and read a 32GB microSD. The phone is powered with ARM Cortex A8 600Mhz CPU and PowerVR SGX graphics.

The other features of the phone includes 3G at 7.2Mbps HSDPA and 3.6Mbps HSUPA, wireless internet connectivity, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and A-GPS. Sony Ericsson Satio’s battery can give a stand-by time of 340 hours and talktime of 4hrs and 50 mins.
