It is one of the very few phones from Sony Ericsson that has a 3.5mm audio jack. Moreover, the phone appears to be a crossbreed of Walkman series and Cyber-shot series cell phones from Sony.

In terms of looks and style, the phone appears to be very similar to Sony Ericsson W705. The phone has got a metal build both in the front and the back.  The display screen is of 2.6 inches and has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and displays 256K colors. The light sensitivity sensor allows you to get clear display even under bright light.  The accelerometer helps in rotating the screen automatically allowing you to view websites and multimedia files with ease.

Below the display screen, you can find the navigational keys as you can find on any other Walkman series phones. The lighting effects of the phone are very good, the lights go orange when the audio player is being used and the camera shutter glows in white color when you start the camera.

On the top and bottom, you can find a pair of loudspeakers and at the back, you can find the 8.1 megapixel camera with flash and a video stand. The kickstand (video stand) is not the best one in business and the phone can easily topple if placed on an even surface. It has also got a secondary camera for video-calling. Opening the back cover will reveal the battery and the hot-swappable M2 expansion card.

Accessing internet is quite fast thanks to the HSDPA at 7.2Mbps speed. You can open heavier pages without any qualms and you can easily zoom and navigate to any area of the webpage easily. There are a plenty of applications present on the phone such as calendar, alarm clocks, tasks, voice transformer, etc.w995 x 3 300x300 Sony Ericsson W995 Review When Walkman Phone Marries Cyber Shot Phone

The camera features of the 8.1 megapixel camera of Sony Ericsson W995 is same as the ones that you can find on latest Cyber-shot cell phones of Sony Ericsson such as C510 and C903. The image quality is simply superb but video quality when recorded is low as it is done at QVGA resolution. The Walkman 4.0 application gives you access to equalizer settings and visualizations. The sound through the loudspeaker and earphones are quite sharp and very clear.

The phone’s, media codec application MediaGo, converts videos automatically so that it can be viewed on your phone. The video quality during playback is not the best as compared to other phones from its competitors such as Samsung Omnia HD.

The battery life of the phone is also good. You will get up to 370 hours (2G) and up to 360 hours (3G) on stand-by and a talk time of up to 9 hours (2G) and up to 4 hours (3G).  The internal memory of the phone is 118MB and can be expanded up to 8GB. The phone is shipped with 8GB M2 (memory stick micro card). The other features of Sony Ericsson W995 are Bluetooth, WLAN, 2.0 USB, stereo FM with RDS and A-GPS.
