Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica – First Android Phone to Play DivX and Xvid Videos

Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica is a successor of the phone named Samsung i7500 Galaxy that released last year. The Samsung Spica is powered with Android OS version 1.5 and 800 Mhz processor. The device looks quite similar to its predecessor and is available in two colors, namely black-red and green-white.The Galaxy Spica i5700 has a wonderful capacitive screen that measures 3.2 inches and has a display resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The images appear bright and clear; however, when you view it under sunlight, the display will appear a bit unclear. The glossy finish of the body easily attracts fingerprints.

The buttons that are present below the display screen include the usually buttons except for a new button present on the left side that can be used for making a search across the phone contacts, calendars, SMS, Google, etc. On the left side of the phone, you can find the volume controller. On the top side, you can find the 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB port. On the right side, you can find the display lock/unlock button and camera shutter. At the rear of Samsung Galaxy Spica, you can find the 3.2 megapixel camera without flash.

The home screen is made up of 5 pages namely that are meant for shortcuts, widgets, etc. The performance of the phone is quite snappy. The internal memory of the phone is 180MM and the external memory can be expanded up to 32GB. For performing data transfer, you can make use of v2.1 Bluetooth and USB. When it comes to messaging, the phone provides with wide range of options such as text messaging, email, chatting on instant messenger and also provides you with built-in Gmail application. The onscreen QWERTY reponds well and can be easily used for writing messages.

The 3.2 megapixel camera is good enough for taking snaps in bright light or outside. Since the phone lacks flash, the images that are taken appear blur and unclear. Captured videos very found to be unimpressive. The media player lets you play DivX and Xvid files without any glitches. Hence, it becomes first Android phone to play Xvid and Divx files.

You can browse on the web through Wi-Fi and 3G at speeds of 3.6Mbps HSDPA on standard WebKit-based browser. It loads pages quickly, however it does not support multitouch. Motorola CLIQ XT Review – A Cool New Social Networking Friendly Phone with 5MP Cam

motorola-cliq-xtMotorola CLIQ XT is the new Android (version 1.5) phone from Motorola. The phone is also known as Motorola QUENCH.It is on the same line of the T-mobile’s Motorola CLIQ released in September 2009. The main difference between the two is that the CLIQ came with a QWERTY keyboard whereas the new CLIQ XT is without a QWERTY keyboard. CLIQ XT has the social network friendly user interface which is best known as MOTOBLUR. Motorola CLIQ XT has a very sleek and neat appearance.

The phone is longer and wider than its predecessor phone. The phone weighs 130 grams and measures 116.8 x 60 x 12.4 mm. The phone is not bulky and easily fits into the pocket. The capactive touchscreen display measures 3.1 inches and has a display resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and supports 262k colors. At the back side of the phone, you can find the 5 megapixel autofocus camera provided with LED flash. The speaker is present above the camera. HTC DROID ERIS Review

droid-erisHTC Droid ERIS is Android powered phones from Verizon. This phone looks quite similar to the cousin phone – Sprint’s HTC Hero. Both HTC Hero and HTC DROID ERIS have the specs. However, the display screen of the DROID ERIS displays 262K as compared to 65K of Hero. The phone is often compared to another Android powered phone – the Motorola DROID. The Motorola DROID is a better phone as it has  3.7 inches display with a display resolution of 480 x 854 pixels.

HTC DRIOD ERIS has a 3.2 inch capactive touchscreen with a display resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. Above the display, you can find a sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen depending on the surrounding light level. When you keep the phone near your face while talking to someone, this sensor automatically turns off the display. The display fades when you view the display outside under the direct sunlight. Below the display, you can find the touch-sensitive buttons such as Home, Menu, Back and Search. Below these buttons, you can find the standard physical buttons such as Send, End/Lock/Power and a trackball.

The only button that you will find on the side of the phone is the volume controller.  On the top of the phone, you can find the 3.5mm audio jack and at the bottom there is a miniUSB port. At the back, you can find the autofocus 5 megapixel camera without a flash. In order to access the microSD card, you will have to remove the battery. The phone is supplied with a 8GB card and it can easily read a 16GB card.  One major difference between HTC DRIOD ERIS and Motorola DROID is that the former lacks a sliding QWERTY keyboard. However,  the phone has a virtual keyboard which is easy to use and is kept simple.HTC-Droid-Eris-01

The HTC DRIOD ERIS is powered with 1.5 version of Android OS and it provides you with 7 home screens to choose from. Each home screen can be customized by installing widgets, shortcuts and by creating folders. While opening any application, the phone lags a bit. When you hit the Search button, it will launch Google Search bar on which you can search either by writing text or through voice and the search results are based on your GPS location. The PIM apps found on this phone are alarm, world clock, stopwatch and countdown timer and lacks notes and tasks. You can visit the Android Market site and download the apps that you desire.

The 5 megapixel camera is neat and takes beautiful pictures but since it lacks flash, the images are not very clear. You can record videos at 352 x 288 pixels. All the popular music file formats can be played on the music player. You can connect to the net via Wi-Fi and 3G. The WebKit based browser with Flash Lite 3.7.1 gives a cool browsing experience. However, you will not be able to play YouTube videos directly but play them through HTC media player. The phone comes with v2.0 Bluetooth that can be used for transferring files and for listening to music. The Li-Ion 1300 mAh battery gives a talk time of 3.56 hours and 373 hours of standby time.
