The keys on the keyboard as spaced out well. If you do not want to use physical keyboard, you can make use of the Android Gingerbread onscreen keyboard or Swype typing feature.

Samsung Transform Ultra is an Android device. It runs on Android Gingerbread OS. Even though it’s a midrange phone, it is graced with 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 1GB ROM and Adreno 205 GPU. Samsung Galaxy Beam Review

Rating: ★★★★☆

Here comes a new and unique smartphone that aspires to introduce new genre of phones into the market. The Samsung Galaxy Beam is a phone that comes all the latest features that you can see in other smartphones. Then, what makes this phone unique? It comes with an inbuilt HD projector. This pocket-size movie theater weighs 145.3g and measures 124 x 64.2 x 12.5mm.

The Galaxy Beam has an attractive orange band running on the sides of the phone. The phone’s exterior is made up of non-slippery soft plastic. It has a got 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It has got a pixel density of 233ppi. Above the display, there is 1.3MP front-facing camera. On the right side of the phone, you can find the power/display lock button. Also, you can find the on/off button for the projector. On the left, there is volume controller. The microUSB slot, SIM card slot and microSD slot can be accessed through the sides and are provided with protective flaps.

Let’s talk about the USP of the phone – the inbuilt HD projector. The 15 lumen pico projector comes with maximum resolution of 640 x 360 pixels. You can easily watch a two and half hour movie and still have some power left in the battery. You can get good viewing experience when you the video or presentation through the phone’s projector in a dark room or dimly lit room. It also come with an easy-to-use Projector app.

The Samsung Galaxy Beam runs on Android v2.3 (can be upgraded to Android v4.0). The phone is powered up with dual-core 1GHz processor along with 768MB RAM. The internal storage is 8GB and the external microSD can detect up 32GB of microSD. The 5MP camera that is provided with LED flash is able to snap decent photos. However, its capability of recording 720p HD videos is below our expectations. The phone could have easily supported 1080p HD recording since it houses 1GHz dual-core CPU. The loudspeaker of the phone emits impressive sound output. It also supports playing videos all the known video formats.

The default Android web browser on Samsung Galaxy Beam works well. It can loads heavy websites with Flash content without any delay. You can connect to the web on 3G at speeds of 14.4 Mbps HSDPA and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi (with DLNA), Bluetooth v3.0 and aGPS. As of now, Samsung has not mentioned anything on the talk time and standby time of 2000mAh Li-Ion battery.

LG Prada 3.0 Review

Rating: ★★★★☆

Prada is a very well-known Italian brand known for producing topnotch quality leather goods. It collaborated with LG in 2007 to launch the original LG Prada. It was an instant hit as it was one of the first phones to have a capacitive touchscreen display. However, the second version of the phone LG Prada II failed to achieve the same accolades because it did not offer anything as compared to its new competitors. Here comes the all new LG Prada 3.0. The phone measures 127.5 x 69 x 8.5 mm and weighs 138g. The Saffiano pattern (leather texture finish) on the phone is nothing special. There is a visible Prada logo on the device.

The LG Prada 3.0 has an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. It has display resolution 480 x 800 pixels with a pixel density of 217ppi. The display measures 4.3 inches. Thanks to the NOVA PLUS screen technology; the display appears very bright under sunlight. On the topside of the Prada 3.0, you can find the audio jack, microUSB slot and display lock/power button. Above the front-facing camera there is a button that launches the 1.3MP front-facing cam to take your snaps.

The LG Prada 3.0 runs on Android OS v2.3. The interface is kept very simple. The phone runs on dual-core 1 GHz cortex A-9 processor with a GPU of PowerVR SGX540. The internal storage capacity of the phone is 8GB. It comes with 1GB RAM and 512MB RAM. In the Korean version of the phone, you can find TDMB TV tuner.

Prada 3.0 comes with an 8 megapixel camera. The camera app is very intuitive. It takes a little while for the camera to focus.  It is capable of stunning photos in the outdoors with saturated colors and good details. Sadly, it fails to take good quality photos indoors even LED flash does well in illuminating the subject. It can record 1080p HD videos. The 1.3MP front-facing is good enough for snapping self-portrait photos. The video player supports all the well-known video formats including DivX and XviD.

When it comes to web browsing, the Android browser delivers good internet browsing experience thanks to its tech specs. It supports Flash. For better browsing experience, it would be better you install the Opera Mobile browser. Other features of the phone include TV-out (through MHL), aGPS, Bluetooth, WLAN, DLNA and so on. The LG Prada is powered up with 1540mAh battery that produces standby time of over 320 hours on 3G and talk time of nearly 5 hours on 3G.

Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX Review

Rating: ★★★½☆

The original Motorola DROID RAZR was released in November 2010 and everything was good about it except for the non-removable battery. Now, the newer edition of the phone has hit the stands. The name is Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX and it comes with a removable heavy duty battery. The phone measures 130.7 x 68.9 x 8 mm and weighs 145g.

The phone looks quite similar to its predecessor. The build quality is excellent as it is made up of premium quality stainless steel. The inner nano-coating makes it liquid repellent. The Super AMOLED advanced capacitive touchscreen measures 4.3 inches and has a display resolutio

n of 540 x 960 pixels. Its pixel density is 256ppi. It is well protected with corning Gorilla glass. The contents of the display are very visible under the direct sun and gives good viewing angles.

Above the camera, there is a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and the Android capacitive buttons are found below the display. On the left side of the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX, there is a flap that covers microSIM 4G slot and microSDHC sl
The Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX runs on Android 2.3.6 and it can be upgraded to the latest Android ICS OS later in the year. It also comes with Motorola’s MOTOBLUR user interface. It is powered with 1.2GHz dual-core cortex A9 processor with TI OMAP 4430 chipset. It has PowerVR SGX540 GPU. The internal memory of the phone is 8GB and comes with 1GB RAM. The phone comes preloaded with 16GB memory card in it’s externally memory which can read up to 32G of microSD.ot. The display lock/power button is located at the right edge. Here you can also find the volume controller. The 8 megapixel auto-focus camera is located at the rear.

The 8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash is capable of decent photos. However, the image details are not that great. LED flash does well in illuminating the environment in dim lighting conditions. However, autofocusing in dim lighting is poor. You can videos of HD quality (1920 x 1080p) at 30fps. The audio output is good through both earphones and loudspeaker. You will enjoy watching movies on the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX.

The internet browsing speed is amazing thanks to 4G LTE support. You can get download speeds of up to 12Mbps and upload speeds of 8Mbps. The Android browser is capable of displaying heavy websites in desktop-like format. You will have no problems in viewing Flash content in the browser. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi (with DLNA support), Bluetooth, HDMI port and aGPS. The massive 3300mAh Li-Ion battery gives a talk time of over 21 hours and standby time of over 375 hours.

LG Spectrum Review

Rating: ★★★☆☆

It’s been quite some time since we have seen an LG smartphone competing against the likes of Samsung and Nokia. The Korean brand has always been known to produce topnotch quality phones. The LG Spectrum is the all new smartphone with LTE capability. The phone measures 135.4 x 68.8 x 10.4 mm and weighs 141.5g.

The huge display screen of LG Spectrum measures 4.5 inches and comes with True HD IPS technology. It has a display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The colors appear very realistic and it gives brilliant viewing angles. LG Spectrum’s appearance is similar to the Korean edition of LG Optimus LTE. The back cover of the phone is made of glossy plastic. The power button, microUSB (MHL port) and 3.5mm audio jack are located at the top side of the phone. On the left side of the phone, there is a volume controller. There are no controls or ports on the right side of the phone. At the rear, there is an 8-megapixel camera.

The LG Spectrum runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS. The phone is powered with dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor and Adreno 220 GPU. The phone also features motion gestures that lets you tap on the sides of the phone to move the cursor or browsing through the photos on your phone. The internal memory of the phone is 4GB and comes with 1GB RAM. The external memory can read up to 32GB microSD. A 16GB microSD is also supplied inside the box package. We expect the LG Spectrum to receive Android 4.0 ICS update in the second quarter of this year.

You may think that the 8-megapixel autofocus camera of LG Spectrum can take high quality photos but sadly the camera disappoints quite miserably. In all lighting conditions, the colors appear dull. A greenish hue can be seen on all the snapped images. Photos taken indoors appear quite hazy. We don’t have much good things to say about 1080p video. The clarity of the recorded audio is quite good. The music player has a polished appearance. Watching videos on LG Spectrum is absolute joy and supports all major video formats

The LG Spectrum’s web browser allows decent browsing experience. However, at times you may notice choppiness. It fully supports Flash. On 4G LTE, you can download at speeds of 33Mbps and upload at speeds of 9Mbps. Other features of the phone include 1.3 megapixel frontfacing camera, Wi-Fi, DNLA functionality, v3.0 Bluetooth, NFC and aGPS. The standard 1830 mAh Li-Ion battery gives a standby time of over 340 hours and talk time of over 8 hours.

Motorola Droid 4 Review

Rating: ★★★½☆

Motorola adds yet another new phone to the Droid series phones – the Motorola Droid 4. The phones measures 127 x 67.3 x 12.7mm and weighs 178.9g. The phone has a very sturdy appeal and the exterior is made up of water-repellant technology. However it is not fully waterproof.

The Motorola Droid 4 has a very large sized capacitive touchscreen display that measures 4 inches. It comes with a display resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. Below the display, you can find four capacitive Android buttons. Located above the display is the front-facing camera of 1.3MP and it is powerful enough to record 720p videos. The power button and volume controllers have soft response. On the left edge of the phone, you can find the microUSB and the microHDMI slots. At the rear, there is a 8MP camera. The physical QWERTY is one of the main USPs of this phone. It’s very easy to use and you can create content and navigate quite easily through it.

The Motorola Droid 4 runs on Android v2.3.6 Gingerbread and on top of it you get the MOTOBLUR user interface. Quite a downer we say when leading brands are switching to Android Ice-cream Sandwich OS. However, you can upgrade to the latest version of Android OS in near future. The Droid 4 is powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It has a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. There is 1GB RAM onboard. The internal memory of the Droid 4 is 16GB and comes with an external storage capability of 32GB.

The 8MP camera of the Droid 4 is accompanied with features like autofocus and LED flash. We noticed a bluish hue in all the snapped photos. The LED flash does not do much when it comes to taking photos in dim lighting. The Droid 4 is capable of recording 1080p HD videos at 29fps. The video is not that great but audio clarity is quite good. The music player supports all known formats and comes with numerous equalizer settings. You can enjoy high resolution videos on the phone and most of the video formats including DivX and XviD formats are supported.

Thanks to the 4G LTE connectivity, you can enjoy lightning fast internet browsing experience. You will not experience slowness even when browsing heavy web pages. Flash content loads pretty fast and you get to experience top quality browsing experience. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi, aGPS, and Bluetooth 4.0. The standard Li-Ion 1785mAh battery gives a standby time of 204 hours and talk time of over 12 hours.
