Using Your Android Phone as Webcam

Most of the Android phones come with high resolution camera which is capable of taking good quality images and even HD videos. You may have thought of connecting your phone to your computer through Bluetooth or USB for using it as a webcam. However, the sad fact is that there is no application that comes preloaded on Android that allow you to use your phone as a webcam.

Here are two Android apps that will allow you to use your phone as a webcam:

1. IP Webcam

It is a very good application if you are looking forward to have a video chat on popular IMs such as Skype and Windows Live. It can be streamed through video player such as VLC or also through your internet browser. You are not required to install any PC client software for using it. All you need to do is simply install the app on the phone and connect the phone to your PC. It is available for Android 2.2 and can be downloaded from the Android Market.

2. DroidCam Wireless Webcam

DroidCam requires you to install a PC client application. The good thing about this app is that it can be used wirelessly by means of the Wi-Fi feature of your phone. The PC client app is only available for Windows OS. In order to use it, after installing the app, you need to specify the IP address of your computer in which you have installed the DriodCam software. Before you launching any chatting application such as Skype for video chat on your PC, you need to establish a connection between the phone and PC.
