Kyocera Echo Review

Kyocera Echo is undoubtedly one of the most unique smartphones out there in the market. Kyocera Echo is world’s first dual-screen phone. You will simply fall in love with the design of this Sprint phone. The front of the phone appears glossy with chrome accents and the rear is made of plastic with soft coating. The phone measures 115 x 56.5 x 17.2mm and weighs 193g.

The display that comes with capacitive touchscreen technology measures 3.5 inches and has a resolution of 980 x 800 pixels. When you slide the main display towards the right, it sits right beside the secondary display. The two displays are separated by a black strip. The display is quite bright but under sunlight you may not be able to view it clearly. Interestingly, each display has its own buttons such as Home , Menu and Back.

The left side of Kyocera Echo contains many things such as 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB slot with cover, power button, volume controller, microSD slot with cover and lanyard slit. On the right side, you won’t find anything because it contains the hinge that holds the two displays. On the rear, you can find 5MP camera with LED flash.

The Kyocera Echo is powered with Android v2.2 and 1GHz Snapdragon processor. It comes with 512MB RAM and 8GB microSD card for the external memory. The external memory can read 32GB of microSD. The Simul-task applications show you a small indicator which shows whether the apps are compatible to be used independently on the two displays. Also, if you are using a single app, the app automatically spans over both the screens. The VueQue app is also an interesting that lets you watch YouTube videos on one display and on another you can browse and watch more videos.

When you view videos on the phone in the tablet view, the bar in the middle is quite noticeable. The 5MP camera takes about 3secs to snap a photo but sometimes images appear to be blurry. Otherwise, the camera snaps decent images. The video recorder can record videos at 720p.

Thanks to Sprint, you will have a good time browsing on the web on 3G. Also, browsing can be done through WLAN. The internet browser is the usual stock browser from Android which gives good web browsing experience. The Kyocera Echo produces a talk time of up to 7 hours.
