LG eXpo GW820 Review

After a long time, LG and AT&T have brought a phone to the market that is powered Windows Mobile OS – LG eXpo GW820. The phone measures 114 x 56 x 15 mm and weighs 147g and the phone is so slim that you will be surprised to know that it houses a QWERTY keyboard. The phone appears to be very durable and the chrome bezel outlining makes the phone look amazing.

It has got TFT resistive touch screen that measures 3.2 inches and has a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and supports 16 million colors. If you set the display to the highest brightness, you will be to view it clearly under direct sunlight. The proximity sensor adjusts the brightness automatically and helps in saving the battery. A secondary video calling camera is located above the display. For unlocking the display, there is a Smart Sensor finger recognition feature.

The LG eXpo lacks a 3.5mm audio headset and hence the phone is shipped with microUSB 3.5mm audio adapter that can be used to connect your own pair of headphones. Slide the display horizontally to the right to use the 4-row QWERTY keyboard. The bright backlight of the keyboard makes it usable even in any lighting conditions. The phone runs on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional OS and is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor. The internal memory of the phone is 86MB. You can expand the external microSD memory up to 16GB. LG’s S-Class interface lets you do more from the WinMo OS. It brings to you 3 home screens namely, LG contacts, Favorite Multimedia and the Main Screen.

The quality of the images snapped through 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash is pretty decent. You can record videos at 640 x 480 resolutions. Video formats such MP4, WMV, H.264 and H.263 can be played on the LG eXpo GW820. The phone does not play DivX and Xvid files. The s-class music personalizes the WM player and plays audio formats such as MP3, WMA, WAV and eAAC files and has got equalizer feature. And now let’s talk about the USP of the phone, the pico projector. You can attach the pico projector at the rear of the phone and it consumes power through the phone’s battery. It’s cool a feature for viewing your presentations directly from your phone. It can project up to 40 inches in size.

You can browse the web through the Internet Explorer on the LG eXpo at 3G speeds of up to 7.2Mbps on HSDPA and you can also connect to the web through WLAN. You can perform data transfer through Bluetooth and microUSB. The other features of the phone includes assisted GPS and Pocket office for viewing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note and PDF files. The standard 1500 mAh Li-Po battery gives a talk time of 4 hours and over 400 hours of standby time.
