Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 – 8 Megapixel Windows Mobile Phone

xperia-x2-top-11dsc_0031In 2008, Sony Ericsson had released the first Microsoft Windows Mobile powered phone – Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 in the market. This year, its successor phone – Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 is all set to hit the market. It is powered with Windows Mobile 6.5. The design of the phone is very intriguing and the phone looks quite similar to its predecessor as far as the build quality is concerned. The phone has a dimension of 110 x 54 x 16mm and weighs only 155grams.

The buttons present on the front side of the XPERIA X2 is prismatic in shape and in between them you can find an optical D-pad. You can find the microUSB slot placed on the left side of the phone together with a switch that can be used for locking the back panel. The volume controller and the camera shutter is located at the right hand side of the phone. On the top side of the phone, you can find the power button, 3.5mm audio headset jack and a place to keep the stylus. LED indicators are present on the top and bottom sides and they start blinking whenever you get an alert such as missed call, new message, etc.

The phone comes with QWERTY keyboard; its keys are so evenly placed that you will hardly make any typing error. If you find the QWERTY keyboard uncomfortable to use, you can make use of the onscreen keyboard or handwriting recognition option.

You can open all the MS Office documents and PDF files on the XPERIA X2. You can connect to the internet through various options such as Wi-Fi and 3G. The phone does not come installed with Opera browser as it was found in the XPERIA X1. The pre-installed software for using the assisted GPS is Google Maps.

The most powerful feature of the XPERIA X2 is the 8 megapixel camera. The phone takes around 5 seconds to start the camera application and it takes a couple of seconds to save an image. Other than this, we did not face any problem with the camera of this phone. All the photos that were taken looked rich and natural. The maximum resolution for video recording is 800 x 480 pixels at 19fps and the quality of the recorded video is okay.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 can play a wide range of video and audio files. The audio player is available with limited features and does not have an equalizer. The boxed headset is quite impressive and offers awesome audio output. The loudspeakers are also good. The battery life of the phone was found to be quite good even after listening to music for several hours, surfing the web through Wi-Fi, viewing videos, and playing 3D games.
