Sony Ericsson Yendo Review

The Sony Ericsson Yendo is very good looking phone and it looks very similar to the Sony Xperia X10 mini and mini pro phones. However, the main difference the Yendo and Xperia series phones is that the Yendo does not have a smartphone platform. Instead, it comes with proprietary Sony Ericsson platform. This phone is also branded as a Walkman phone. The phone is available in wide range of colors such as black, blue, green, orange, pink, purple, red, silver, white, and yellow.

The design is compact and it is completely made up of plastic. It feels good to hold this phone. It measures 93.5 x 52 x 15.5 mm. The Yendo comes with a 2.6 inch capacitive display screen that has a display resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The resolution is quite low but still manages to give good viewing angles.

Below the screen, you can find only one button – a back key. On the left side of the phone, you will find microUSB port. On the right side of the phone, you can find a volume controller. On the top, there is a power/display lock button along with the 3.5mm audio headset jack. At the rear, there is a 2 megapixel camera without flash. Once you remove the back panel, you can get access to the battery, microSD card and the SIM card slot.

Yendo’s user interface resembles that of X10 mini phone. It allows you to place widgets on the homescreen but only the basic ones. You can widgets like notes and music player. On the home screen, there are four shortcuts namely Walkman player, messaging, dialer, and phonebook. Through the main menu, you can access all the apps present on your phone.

The 2 megapixel camera is very basic one. There are only two camera options namely, a shutter and still/video switch. Since there are no flash, images taken in low lighting condition lacks clarity. The Walkman music player is pretty decent. It comes with Track ID and voice recorder. The sound output is good. The phone runs on a slow processor 156MHz and it comes with 5MB internal memory. The microSD slot can read up to 16GB of memory.

The only way you can connect to the web is GPRS EDGE. The web browser is very simple and scrolling is quite slow. It comes with Bluetooth which supports A2DP profile. The Li-Po 970 mAh battery gives a standby time of 312 hours and talk time of over 3 hours.
