Samsung Zeal is a CDMA phone from Verizon. The dual hinge measures 101.9 x 51.8 17.1 mm and weighs 123g. The phone has a very unique quality. From outside, the phone appears to be like any other flip phone. It has a very rugged design. However, the front portion of the phone shines beautifully.
The display screen measures 2.6 inches and has a display resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The external display is only 1.3 inches and has a display resolution of 128 x 128 pixels. The Samsung Zeal comes with a very unique and new concept for keyboard called e-link keyboard. The layout of the keys automatically changes for portrait mode and messaging mode. When all the world is waiting for Windows Phone 7 devices, LG has managed to release first Windows Mobile device for Verizon – LG Fathom VS750. The phone’s look won’t impress you; however its durability can be felt through its plastic construction. The corner and edges are slightly curved. The phone measures 115 x 56 x 17mm and weighs 152 which is slightly on the bulky side. It has got a 3.2 inches TFT resistive touchscreen that is capable of displaying 256k colors at a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It is not easy to view the display under bright sunlight. Verizon Wireless has introduced a new Motorola phone with Android OS – Motorola Droid X M8810. This phone is the successor to the original Motorola Droid A855 that was released last year. The phone weighs 155g and measures 127.5 x 65.5 x 9.9 mm. It comes with a TFT capactive touchscreen display that measures 4.3 inches and has a FWVGA display resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and is capable of displaying up to 16m colors. Recently, Verizon Wireless released two Microsoft Kin phones namely Kin One and Kin Two. We reviewed the Kin One in the previous week and we are going to review the other Kin phone – the Microsoft Kin Two. The Microsoft Kin Two runs on Kin OS which is mainly a platform that can be best used for social networking and for listening to streaming music. As far as the design of concerned, the Microsoft Kin Two look awesome as it looks very sleek and the build is well done. The body of the phone is made up of scratch resistant material. Verizon brings to Nokia 7705 which is one of the smallest phones that is available in the market. Nokia has named it Twist because there is a hidden keyboard that twists out. This phone has been released by Nokia to give competition to phones like Samsung Alias 2 and LG enV3. It measures only 69 x 69 x 15 mm and weighs 98g. The QVGA display measures 2.4 inches and has a display resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and supports 262k colors. Palm Pixi Plus from Verizon Wireless has almost the same features that can be found on Sprint’s Palm Pixi. The phone is slim and the design has been kept simple. It has got a capactive TFT touchscreen display that measures 2.63 inches with a display resolution of 320 x 400 pixels and supports 256k colors. It supports multi-touch. We noticed that the accelerometer of the phone did not function well as it delayed to rotate the display vertically or horizontally whenever we held the phone vertically and horizontally. Verizon Wireless just launched another handset from Samsung- the Samsung Trance. This touch screen phone aims to target users who want an iPhone-like cell phone for less. It has a touchpad navigation and has context sensitive keys. This is one of the more powerful music phones in the market. It has a pretty good audio system courtesy of Bang & Olufsen’s ICEpower amps.
